We are proud to announce that the National Masonry Academy (NMA) has officially been recognised as a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO)—a significant milestone that marks a new era in high-quality, industry-led training for the UK masonry sector.
This accreditation means that employers and learners can now trust NMA to deliver CITB-endorsed training that meets national industry standards, aligns with the latest legislation, and supports a stronger, safer, and more competent workforce.
What is a CITB Approved Training Organisation?
A CITB ATO is a training provider that has been independently assessed and approved by the Construction Industry Training Board to deliver training aligned with nationally recognised CITB standards. This ensures that every course meets rigorous quality requirements and is eligible for CITB grant support where applicable.
By gaining this status, the National Masonry Academy is now formally recognised as a trusted partner in the delivery of short-duration training, qualifications, and continuing professional development (CPD) that counts towards workforce competency and career progression.
What This Means for the Industry
The masonry industry has long needed a dedicated, specialist training provider capable of responding to the specific needs of contractors, manufacturers, and installers. As an ATO, the National Masonry Academy is now:
- Delivering recognised qualifications that meet industry needs and regulatory demands.
- Unlocking grant funding for employers through the CITB levy system.
- Supporting upskilling across the supply chain, from apprenticeships to on-site refresher courses.
- Strengthening compliance with the Building Safety Act and wider government initiatives around construction quality and competency.
Whether it’s training on damp proof course (DPC) installation through the Visqueen Registered Installer Scheme, or developing the next generation of apprentices in brickwork and stonework, the NMA is now equipped to deliver at scale—with CITB backing.
A Commitment to National Reach and Quality
With its headquarters in Sheffield and additional facilities across five strategic UK locations, the NMA is designed to provide flexible, accessible training to meet regional and national demand. Courses are tailored to real-world site conditions and developed in collaboration with industry partners, ensuring relevance, practicality, and measurable outcomes.
From day one, quality has been at the core of the NMA’s approach. As a CITB ATO, this commitment is now formally recognised and externally validated, giving employers the confidence they need when investing in training and development.
Looking Ahead: Supporting the Future of UK Masonry
As the UK construction industry faces increasing pressure to deliver sustainable, high-quality housing and infrastructure, the masonry sector must continue to evolve. Competence, safety, and compliance are no longer optional—they are essential. The NMA’s role as a CITB ATO will help ensure our workforce is ready.
We encourage contractors, employers, and industry stakeholders to make full use of the Academy and its training programmes. Now is the time to invest in skills, raise standards, and build a better future—brick by brick.
