National Masonry Academy Celebrates a Standout Debut of Fine Art Brickwork Course with Mark Rosier

The National Masonry Academy has marked a major milestone with the successful delivery of its very first Fine Art Brickwork Course, led by renowned master craftsman Mark Rosier – and by all accounts, it was an outstanding success.

Held over two intensive days, the course brought together a group of highly skilled, professional bricklayers who were united by one thing: a genuine passion for the craft and a desire to push their abilities further. Every delegate attended not just to refine their technique, but to deepen their understanding of brickwork as an art form – opening new horizons for specialist work, restoration projects, and high-end architectural features.

The Fine Art Brickwork course is designed specifically for experienced tradespeople who want to elevate their craftsmanship. Under Mark Rosier’s expert guidance, learners explored the geometry, precision, and traditional methods that underpin high-quality decorative and structural brickwork.

Over the two days, delegates constructed a range of classic and challenging brick features, including:

  • Segmental arch

  • Three-centred arch

  • Gauged arch

  • Bullseye feature

Each element was taught from first principles. Participants worked through the full process – setting out using geometry, producing and using templates, accurately cutting bricks, and assembling each feature to fine tolerances. The emphasis on precision, proportion, and traditional craftsmanship gave learners a renewed appreciation for the design and discipline behind truly exceptional brickwork.

Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive. Many described the course as inspiring, confidence-boosting, and eye-opening, praising both the depth of instruction and the hands-on approach. Several attendees commented that the course had not only sharpened their skills but also reignited their passion for the trade and expanded the types of work they now feel equipped to take on.

The National Masonry Academy’s leadership team described the launch as a “huge success” and a strong statement of intent for the future. With demand already growing for further specialist training, the Academy is positioning itself as a centre of excellence for high-level masonry education.

With Mark Rosier’s expertise and the clear appetite from the industry, the Fine Art Brickwork Course has set the standard high from day one – proving that when traditional skills meet modern ambition, the craft of brickwork continues to thrive.
