This course is one day in duration and will be part theory / part practical. You can either book onto a course at one of our training facilities or book in a group at a convenient location. This training is covered by CITB grant at £140 per learner.  Upon successful completion you will receive a training certificate accredited by The CITB and The National Masonry Academy, plus individual competence uploaded to The CITB Construction Database. 

This course is part of the Bricklaying Competency Frameworks developed by WG2 under the Building Safety Act and is relevant to operative and craft, supervision, and management and leadership occupational groups.

  • An overview as to why masonry support is used in a building and the hazards and defects associated with non-compliance
  • Selecting the most appropriate masonry support by considering frame type, differential movement, type of cladding, masonry load and cavity width
  • Where to position a support angle and the different types available
  • Equipment, tools and components used when installing a masonry support angle system
  • Health and safety considerations when installing a masonry support angle
  • Reading a masonry support drawing
  • Fit a masonry support angle using manufacturers’ specification
  • Accommodating structural tolerances and limits of adjustment methods
  • Standards, regulations and best practice
