Cost: £220 per person

This course is one day in duration and will be part theory / part practical. You can either book onto a course at one of our training facilities or book in a group at a convenient location. This training is covered by CITB grant at £140 per learner.  Upon successful completion you will receive a training certificate accredited by The CITB and The National Masonry Academy, plus individual competence uploaded to The CITB Construction Database. 

This course is part of the Bricklaying Competency Frameworks developed by WG2 under the Building Safety Act and is relevant to operative and craft, supervision, and management and leadership roles.

Scope of Training 

  • Overview of how a fire spreads within a building and concealed cavities
  • To understand what fire barriers and breaks are and how and why they are used to restrict the lateral and vertical spread of fire
  • The hazards and defects associated with non-compliance
  • To understand where fire barriers and breaks are fitted and how to read from drawings
  • Understand the different types of fire barriers and breaks used
  • How to install a cavity fire barrier
  • What records, information and detail should be used and kept when installing fire barriers and breaks
  • Understanding the accreditation requirements and system certification
  • Overview of fire break requirements for services
